There Are Many Powerful Forces That Work Against You Every Day
If the one thing that we have control over is our thoughts, then why do most people live in mediocrity and fail to achieve major goals. It is because most people have made a habit of letting the three powerful forces or influences control their thoughts and beliefs. If you do not guard your mind against the negative effects of these extremely powerful influences, then you risk your life being dictated and ultimately controlled by something or someone else.
The 3 forces that work tirelessly and intentionally to control your thoughts and keep you from achieving your dreams are:
1. THE MEDIA:
Television is the most powerful tool used to control the masses that was ever invented. Repeated commercials and brand placements control our buying habits. Images of the people on television influence how we live and act. Companies spend millions of dollars to learn how to affect your thinking with their advertisements and subliminal messages.
When you bundle television with radio, print (i.e. newspapers, magazines, etc...) music, and the internet, we are literally bombarded with hundreds, if not thousands of messages every single day! It is usually the media outlet that we have the most exposure to, that has greatest influence on our minds. What type of media are you exposed to the most? Is it helping you or hindering you?
2. ASSOCIATIONS:
Our associations are the people in our lives. This includes family, friends, enemies, mentors, teachers, preachers, etc.
The people that influence our thoughts the most are usually the ones that we spend the most time with. There are some people that we must deal with on a regular basis because we either live with them or work with them. Nevertheless, we do have control over the amount of time we spend with most of the people in our lives. Do the person or people that you spend the majority of your time with empower you or limit you?
3. INSTITUTIONS:
Institutions are extremely powerful forces that influence our thoughts on a regular basis. These institutions include but are not limited to: governments, schools, churches and other types of organizations. Are the dominating beliefs of the institutions that you are affiliated with building you up, or tearing you down?
Institutions have caused more people to sacrifice their lives because they have held such a strong grip on their thoughts and beliefs.
We are all influenced every day by people and things. The first step is to recognize the dominant influences in our lives. Next we must ask ourselves are these influences helping us or hindering us in reaching our goals in life.
If it the influence is helping you, then get more of it. If the influence is hindering you, then it is important to start working on strategies and techniques to limit or eliminate that negative influence from your life.

Try to Make a Difference in 2010
Most people would like their contribution to make a difference. While the specifics of what they offer is likely to depend on their roles and responsibilities, it is generally accepted that there are five things that you can do to increase the quality and effectiveness of your contributions. Here are those five things.
Be imaginative.
Be imaginative.
There remains a need for visioning, big-picture thinking, having a picture of what you aspire to, or whatever label you use to describe the practice of having something to look forward to. And that vision must allow also for exploring new ideas. Back in the early days of NLP, I remember Richard Bandler challenging us to think about the idea we hadn't had, yet. Not only must you have opportunities to think creatively and implement ideas that merit attention but you may also need to help others to do likewise.
Be relevant.
Individuals and organizations need missions that translate big-pictures to everyday-life events. Alexander the Great, Napoleon, and other great leaders demonstrated that delivering relevance is a 3-step process.
1. Ensure that everyone knows how their job complements the organization's mission.
2. Encourage those people to find ways to do their jobs more efficiently.
3. Recognize them for their positive contributions.
A mission statement that is a 'yawn', will be an indication of its relevance.
Be specific.
While it is important to think big and ensure relevance, it becomes necessary to break big ideas into manageable chunks. A company, for example, that wants to become an employer of choice would need to chunk-down its recruitment policy, how it fills new positions, and how it develops employees once they are hired.
Be actionable.
Specificity opens the door for turning aspirations into actions: Talk does not cook rice.
If you are to be a fully functioning member of an effective team, you will need
o to assign people to carry out the specific of the task,
o to provide those people with resources and timelines,
o to make sure you do not hand over or abrogate all responsibility, and
o to remain engaged in the change process.
Be accountable.
It is one thing to ask others to change; it's another thing to makes changes yourself. You must be ready to change yourself (as Gandhi advised: Become the change you want to see). And your personal sense of accountability will enhance your credibility and any suggestions for ongoing improvements. Whatever your business, people take their cues from those in charge and the examples they set. By your actions, you will demonstrate your credibility and make a difference. And the payoff will be significant.

Adding Basement Playroom While Building New House
When building a new home an important consideration is whether or not to spend the additional money to have a basement included in the plans. Today more and more people are opting for a walkout basement that is built into the lot in a way that allows natural light to be abundant due to the window placements and the French doors or sliding glass door access to the outside. These kinds of basement set-ups lend themselves well to game room furniture often consisting of ping pong or pool tables. Racks lining the walls can hold equipment needed to play giving instant access to paddles for ping pong and billiard balls for pool. When arranging for this type of family entertainment it is wise to plan ahead and anticipate how the area will be used in order to furnish it in the best way possible for easy functioning. Some things to consider are:
Lighting:
Lighting:
Is there ample light for everyone to be able to enjoy their chosen activity? From needlework to intense competition playing ping pong or pool, good lighting is necessary to provide the best atmosphere and to make the basement as inviting as possible.
Heat Source:
Heat Source:
Is the basement adequately heated in winter for maximum comfort and that homey feeling that is so necessary when having family activities? Some families enjoy having a fireplace in the basement to provide a cozy ambience to the area. Another good option is to employ baseboard heating that can be turned on when needed but use no extra energy when it is not necessary.
Snack Area:
Snack Area:
When planning for a basement retreat, it is a good idea to consider the kinds of snacks or refreshments your family enjoys the most. Many people choose to have a bar that is well stocked and that also provides an area for serving dishes. Another useful piece of equipment is a small refrigerator that can hold foods that need to be kept at a cool temperature. It is much more convenient to have these foods within easy reach rather than running upstairs each time someone would like a snack.
Storage Space:
Storage Space:
Having a designated space to store games, sports equipment and puzzles is a must and it is usually best to have this built-in when designing and building a basement. Good quality shelving or bookshelves are good alternative choices when storage is needed and it must be provided after the basement is already built.
Comfortable Furnishings:
Comfortable Furnishings:
It is important to have very inviting furnishings to complete the look in the basement. Couches and chairs that are of good quality material and easy to keep clean are the key to a good functioning family room atmosphere. Throws or comfortable quilts or blankets not only add to the décor of a basement but also provide cozy warmth while watching television on reading a favorite book.
Bright Paint:
Bright Paint:
The colors in a basement set the stage for family enjoyment. This is where a family can express its personality by choosing the colors that best fit them. Many times different sections of the basement can be painted to define areas once it has been determined what those sections will be used for.
How to Select Best Home Building Contractor
One of your biggest investments is your home. If you plan to hire home building contractors to build your home or to do a remodel project, be sure to hire someone who is qualified, reputable, and well-experienced. Give ample time to carefully search for the right people to work with to ensure that the job of building your home is done as you envision it.
When meeting with probable contractors, remember to request a copy of his or her license and proof of liability insurance. This insurance will cover any property damage or injury claims. Also, try to find out how long the contractor has been in the business. You can also visit some of the projects that he/she has done. This can tell you if he/she is right for your home building project.
Be sure that when you hire home building contractors, you choose the one who is currently licensed as required by the laws within your city/state. You will be required to provide the contractor's name and license number. Most of the states have already had the licensing board check the contractor's background and is satisfied that he/she has the necessary training and experience. You may do the same for any sub-contractors that either you acting as general contractor have hired or that are hired by the actual general contractor him/herself.
Contractors can also be checked by getting in touch with the Better Business Bureau in your area. You can inquire if there had been any complaints or legal actions taken against the contractor in the past. Also, try to check for a history of bad debts and/or previous bankruptcy.
Know projects that the contractor has recently finished or a job in progress and try to make a visit to that particular site. Contractors may even voluntarily give you the names of their most satisfied customers as references, but ask about the completed jobs/projects of the previous year. It would also be in your best interests to ask for references dating back to three or more years.
Before signing the contract, read it carefully. Make sure that you understand it and all the terms are clear to you. The building plans ought to include all that you want stated in the bid. This will make it a well written contract and can call attention to specific details of your expectations.

Skin Cancers Early Signs - How to Identify Skin Cancer
Receiving a diagnosis that you have skin cancer is usually taken very hard. You probably do not know what you can do next as decisions are hard to make in such a worrisome time. Luckily, the chance of you surviving skin cancer is usually very good so long as it was detected early.
The best chance of keeping cancer under control is to be aware of your skin and notice any changes early enough to catch it before it progresses. Your odds of beating it seriously improve if you are active and catch it early.
In the initial phases of skin cancer you will learn if you have a non-melanoma or a melanoma cancer. The skin cancer early signs for these two cancers carry a very good prognosis for survival. It is reasonably uncommon for a basal cell carcinoma to advance past the second stage so that the diagnosis is fantastic if this is the form of cancer you're dealing with.
If it is not stopped, melanoma cancer will advance quickly past stage I and into stage II. That's why it is important to take immediate steps if you have got a diagnosis of melanoma. If it is uncovered during stage I or II, melanoma has a virtually a hundred percent survival rate over 5 years. If spotted at stage III, the survival rate decreases to 60 percent. This is sort of a drop and makes it clear that early detection makes a big difference in success of treatment of melanoma cancer.
It's fully urgent to check your skin on a regular basis at least one time each month for signs of skin cancer. You must also see a doctor regularly so that your skin can be inspected as a part of your routine physical. If you detect anything suspicious on your skin you want to get it inspected by a doctor immediately, especially if you have got a discolouration or mole that seems to be changing shape and or color.
If you've a wound that doesn't heal, be certain to let your physician know about it. Ask your doctor what melanoma skin cancer looks like. Armed with this data, you will know what to search for when you do self examinations. It is vital that you be in a position to identify any skin cancer you find.
Skin cancer early signs can be relatively small in size, about the size of a pea, and gradually grows larger. Eventually other organs will become involved as the cancer moves forward through the body. Once this occurs the survival rate will drop and other forms of treatment, aside from removal of the cancer, will be necessary.

How to Avoid Skin Cancer
Everybody, well, almost everybody, loves going outside for a little fun now and then. Whether it's a trip to the beach, a ski trip in the mountains, or just an afternoon spent out in the sun at a football game most of us are going to be out in the sun from time to time. Even without being outside for prolonged periods of time those little five and ten minutes in the sun to run errands etc. begin to mount up over time.
And you really want to become a complete hermit and never stick your head outdoors. We actually need a little sun from time to time to help our body produce vitamin D. The conclusion is we need a little bit of sunlight but not too much - so how do you protect yourself from the harmful effect of the sun's rays?
If you are going outside and plan on being out in the sun for an extended period of time, especially if it is during the middle of the day - cover up? It's really pretty simple. Clothing can provide a very good protective barrier if you are going to be outdoors for an extended period. But not all clothing is created equal when it comes to protecting your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays. If it's not too hot, long sleeve shirts or blouses and long pants or skirts are going to be your first choice simply because they cover more skin area. There are a number of clothing products on the market today that are manufactured to be worn in very hot weather but allow you to stay cool and also provide excellent UV protection.
If you are going to be out in a very hot bright day for an extended period of time you may want to consider in vesting in some of these excellent protective products. Some manufactures include labels that allow you to rate the effectiveness of the garment, just like you do when shopping for sunscreen. And don't forget to wear some SPF 15 or higher sunscreen on those areas like your face and neck that aren't going to be covered by clothing.
Skin cancer can be avoided by most people, you just have to be sensible and start when you're young. All those sunspots that show up when you 40 got their start when you were on the beach in your 20's.

How to prevent & get relieft from back pain
It is a lot better to prevent back pain, than to treat it once it's there. Therefore, there are many things that you can do to prevent back pain.
• Pay Attention When You Feel Pain
If you feel any pain or discomfort while doing any activity, it is a warning that there could be something wrong. Put a stop to what you are doing so that it may not cause further damage to your back. Also do not try to fix it by your self because it might worsen the pain.
• Work Out
Getting regular exercise everyday is very important. It can help facilitate strength and mobility. Regular exercise should be done everyday even for just 15 to 20 minutes but if you are feeling some pain, do not force yourself to exercise. Some examples of exercises are swimming, cycling, and brisk walking, though you can choose the ones that are appropriate for you and what you like. If you can't exercise everyday, at lease 3-4 times per week.
• Warm Up
In every exercise or activity that you do, warm up first by stretching your muscles to prevent any injuries, this will get your body ready for action.
• Cool Down
Same as warming up before an exercise, you should be able to cool down after working out. Do not immediately stop when doing an exercise instead just slowly relax your muscles.
• Do Proper Body Mechanics
Picking up a light object and lifting it in a wrong way can hurt your back. However you can experience no back pain from lifting a heavy object using proper body mechanics. Plus carrying an object away from your body would likely cause back pain. When you lift up something, even if it is heavy, placing it near your body allows your back to be straight. Also, daily activities such as using the vacuum, sitting, or even getting out of your car requires proper body mechanics. Keeping your back straight, and not bending in unnatural positions can prevent and unwanted strain.
• Do Some Stretching Once In A While
As you keep your body at rest, such as prolonged sitting or lying in bed, this can bring about weakness of the muscles. Take some time to stretch for at least 5 minutes especially if you have been sitting for a long period of time. Also, avoid slouching most of the time as it can tire your back.
• Choose Quality
When you are going to choose furniture in your house or in your office, make sure that you try it first. For example, if you are going to buy a chair for your office desk, make sure that you are comfortable and it will give support to your back. Better if it also has some adjustable knobs. If you don't have a good support chair, the use of a lumbar support can help. Another example is choosing a bed for your room. This is one item that is very important since it allows you to have a good night sleep. Much of our life is spent sleeping and if you don't have proper support from your mattress, this can lay the foundation to back problems. Don't trust too much when the label says orthopedic, because sometimes that is misinforming. You want to choose a bed with a firm base. The mattress must also be sufficiently soft to mould the shape of your body, but adequately firm to provide you support in the correct places.
• Sleep Right
Sleeping on your stomach places more pressure on your neck and back because it goes against the natural curves of the spine. This can cause severe back and neck pain. Sleeping on your side is the optimal position, however it is okay to sleep in your back less frequently. Make use of pillows that can support your neck and back. When you are on your side, use a good cervical support pillow and place a pillow between your knees to prevent any unwanted pressure to your hips.
